About Texas Massage Academy Built by Therapists, for future therapists

We started as a Brownwood day spa that couldn't find enough skilled massage therapists — so we decided to train our own. Today we're a family-owned, TDLR-approved school helping students across Texas turn a calling into a licensed career.

Who We Are

It Started With a Spa and a Waiting List

Brandon and his wife Kathleen — known to clients as "Fancy" — opened Fancy's Day Spa in Brownwood, Texas in 2007. As word spread, demand outgrew what two therapists could give: clients drove in from across the state and booked months ahead.

Rather than turn people away, they set out to train more skilled therapists — and Texas Massage Academy was born. What began as a way to staff one spa became a school dedicated to launching careers.

Today the Academy trains the next generation of licensed massage therapists from its Brownwood campus, with coursework available online to students across Texas. Same family. Same standards. A whole lot more graduates.

Kathleen Mazy, Co-Owner and Dean of Admissions at Texas Massage Academy

Kathleen Mazy

Co-Owner · Dean of Admissions

Kathleen is where most students' journeys begin. A University of Texas graduate with a B.S. in Education, she earned her massage credentials with honors — then went further than the state required, adding Trigger Point Therapy and Spa Services to her craft. In 2007 she opened Fancy's Day Spa in Brownwood, and when demand outgrew what two hands could give, she helped turn a months-long waiting list into a school. As Dean of Admissions, she's the first person to believe in you — and the one who makes sure you finish what you start.

Brandon Mazy, Co-Owner and Marketing Director at Texas Massage Academy

Brandon Mazy

Co-Owner · Marketing Director

Brandon teaches the science and the strategy. After graduating from the Art Institute of Dallas and years in corporate media — marketing, graphics, programming, computer-based training — he brought a designer's eye to the classroom and built lessons students actually want to sit through. He sees massage as whole-person wellness, not just pressure on a muscle, from severe pain management to teaching clients to read their own bodies. He leads Massage Technique, Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Hydrotherapy, Health & Hygiene, Pathology, and Business Practices & Professional Ethics — and personally supervises the Clinical Internship.

Chad, CPR Instructor and Clinical/Internship Advisor at Texas Massage Academy

Chad O.

CPR Instructor · Clinical/Internship Advisor

Chad is the engine behind the part of the program that turns students into professionals. He runs the clinical and internship track, pushing each student to the next level, and serves as lead CPR instructor for every class and the wider Brownwood community. When he's not on campus, he's sharpening TexasCEU — the Academy's continuing-education division — with the kind of out-of-the-box thinking that keeps therapists across Texas growing long after graduation.

Brittany, Instructor and Integrated Massage Therapist at Texas Massage Academy

Brittany

Instructor · Integrated Massage Therapist

Brittany's story is the one we hope you'll write too. A Brownwood native, wife, and mom of three, she walked into TMA for a front-desk job and walked out with a calling. She enrolled, graduated in 2022, earned her license, and never looked back — massaging full-time while she trains to teach. Ask her why she stayed and she'll tell you: she still gets to heal people with her hands and help build the next generation of therapists. Best of both worlds.

This Is What Learning Here Looks Like

Hands-on from the very first class — practicing on real people with an instructor right beside you, the whiteboard full of the day's anatomy, and classmates who become family. That's the school Brandon and Kathleen built, and it's still how we teach today.
