In 2017, Sarah Suarez graduated from Texas Massage Academy with a heart full of purpose \u2014 and a car full of gas. She now works at Woodhouse Day Spa in Midland<\/strong>, specializing in spa massage, prenatal therapy, and independent doula work<\/strong>. Her journey proves that when passion meets perseverance, massage therapy becomes more than a career \u2014 it becomes a calling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy clients are always so excited to see me. Every single day someone tells me, \u2018You\u2019re the best part of my week,\u2019 or \u2018I\u2019ve been looking forward to this.\u2019 I leave work with a full heart every time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

🚗 A Commitment That Spoke Volumes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sarah completed our Advanced Core Program<\/strong> in 2017, back when it was entirely in-person<\/strong> \u2014 before online learning was approved by TDLR. She attended as a weekend student<\/strong>, driving from San Angelo to Brownwood \u2014 1.5 hours each way \u2014 every Saturday and Sunday<\/strong> for over 15 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI loved showing up to learn. It never felt like a chore \u2014 it felt like an opportunity.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Today, students benefit from a hybrid format, with up to 50% of the program online<\/strong>, saving time and gas while still getting the hands-on experience they need. But Sarah\u2019s dedication reminds us that when the program and instructors are worth it, students show up \u2014 even if it means six hours of driving every weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

🙌 Why Massage? Why Texas Massage Academy?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For Sarah, the decision to attend massage school wasn\u2019t planned \u2014 but it felt right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen Liz invited me to registration, it just clicked. Looking back now, I 100% consider it a God thing that I ended up at Texas Massage Academy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

One moment in school changed the trajectory of Sarah\u2019s career: her first prenatal massage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter that first prenatal session, I knew I\u2019d be involved in the birth space for the rest of my career. When I learned we could relieve pain that some doctors just write off as \u2018part of pregnancy,\u2019 it blew my mind.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Since then, Sarah has continued to work with pregnant clients both at the spa and independently as a doula. Her dream? To one day offer prenatal massage in a birth center full-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

🧠 The People, the Passion, and Brandon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When asked what she remembers most about school, Sarah didn\u2019t hesitate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe people \u2014 the instructors, the clients, my classmates. I looked forward to class every weekend. It was never a chore.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Though she spent more hands-on time with Melanie and Jeremiah, she credits Brandon\u2019s passion with inspiring her deeper purpose:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen Brandon talked about technique and results, you could feel how much he loved what he did. I thought to myself, \u2018If my job doesn\u2019t make me that happy, I\u2019m in the wrong one.\u2019 That\u2019s stayed with me ever since.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFind ways to learn anatomy that stick with you. Don\u2019t just memorize for the test \u2014 you\u2019ll need that info long after graduation.\u201d<\/em>

🎯 What\u2019s Next for Sarah?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While she loves her current job at the spa, Sarah\u2019s heart is still pulled toward the birth world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne day, I\u2019d love to offer only prenatal massage in a birth center. I\u2019ve thought about opening my own space, but I\u2019ve seen the stress that can bring. For now, I\u2019m really happy \u2014 and I\u2019m still working toward that dream.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
